Glenview Church Will Ordain First Openly Gay Pastor
St. Philip Lutheran Church set to ordain Kyle Severson as Pastor.
St. Philip Lutheran Church in Glenview will ordain Kyle Severson, who is openly gay, as its newest pastor at the end of the month.
He will become the first openly gay and married pastor in the church’s history, according to the Glenview Lantern.
“I felt some sort of call to ministry from a really young age,” Severson said.

According to a 2014 Windy City Times report, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church hosted a ceremony in June that year that renewed the wedding vows of several same-sex couples, including Kyle Severson and Clyde Andrew Walter.
Severson and Walter were married legally in 2011.
