After 20 years of service with the Village of Glenview, Deputy Police Chief Cathy Sostak has announced her retirement, effective June 5.

She was hired as a patrol officer in 2000, and transferred three years later to Criminal Investigations as a Detective, eventually specializing in financial crimes. She was promoted to Sergeant in 2013, to Commander in 2015 and to Deputy Chief in 2017. Cathy was the first woman to serve as a Glenview Deputy Chief.
She received notable letters of recognition from the Office of the Attorney General and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations for her outstanding work as an investigative professional; much praise and appreciation from grateful citizens and surrounding departments; and many letters of recognition for her teamwork and professionalism.

She received a Department Commendation and was chosen to receive the Glenview Civic Awards’ 2011 Public Safety Award for her part in the arrest and conviction of the former executive director of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, who stole more than $900,000 from the agency.
She emceed the Civic Awards dinner presentation in 2018 and 2019.
