Glenview District 34 Board Earns State Governance Honor

GLENVIEW, IL — The Glenview District 34 Board of Education has been recognized by the Illinois Association of School Boards for its governance practices.

District 34 was one of 53 Illinois school districts to earn the School Board Governance Recognition honor, which recognizes boards for effective governance and efforts to strengthen the knowledge and skills needed to lead their districts.

The recognition focuses on full-board development and participation and is based on governance practices outlined in the association’s Foundational Principles of Effective Governance. Boards that meet the requirements receive the distinction for two years.

"It's not a surprise that the District 34’s Board earned this honor," Superintendent Dane Delli said. "Our Board of Education is constantly working to improve its governance and leadership skills for our district, the students, and the entire community."

Delli also credited the board with seeking out community engagement opportunities and monitoring district performance to make sure goals align with District 34's mission.

According to IASB, the recognition program is intended to highlight how board governance can affect students, staff and the broader district community while encouraging continued learning by board members.
