Glenview Parks Name Executive Director

Michael McCarty, current director of parks and recreation for the city of Fairfax, VA, will be the next executive director of the Glenview Park District beginning April 6.

The district’s board of commissioners unanimously voted to instate McCarty as executive director at their Thursday meeting.

“In evaluating candidates for this position, it was important for us [the board] to find someone who can build upon the excellence our district has been able to achieve under Chuck Balling’s leadership,” remarked Board President Mary Jean Coulson. “We are thrilled to welcome Mr. McCarty to Glenview.”

During his nine years in Fairfax, the city was awarded the National Gold Medal for Excellence in Parks in Recreation. Prior to his role at Fairfax, McCarty served as the executive director of parks and recreation for Longmeadow, MA.
