Glenview Parks Supervisor Retires Just Shy of 40 Years

Cheryl Deom began working for Glenview Park District in 1976.

Cheryl Deom, superintendent of special facilities for the Glenview Park District, is retiring Friday, May 1 after nearly four decades with the district.

“It was a difficult decision to retire because I truly love my job,” said Deom, who has been with the district since 1976. “I’ve enjoyed offering recreational programs to Glenview residents. At the park district, we work to help community members cultivate new passions, from community theatre to platform tennis.”

According to the journal & Topics, Deom has led renovations of the Ice Center, Tennis Club and has been part of the team working on the ongoing renovation of the Glenview Park Golf Club. As superintendent of special facilities, she oversees Glenview Ice Center, Glenview Tennis Club, Glenview Park Golf Club, and Glenview Prairie Club.

Deom has received numerous awards such as the 2014 Robert Artz Lifetime Achievement Award by the Illinois Park and Recreation Assn. (IPRA)
