Glenview Police Participating In National Drug Take Back Day

Bring unused prescription drugs to the Glenview Police Department during Saturday's event.

GLENVIEW, IL — Like it did in April, the Glenview Police Department is participating in the upcoming 2023 National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Glenview Police Department, 2500 E. Lake Ave.

Residents with unused prescription drugs in their medicine cabinets can drop them off, but needles, sharps or liquids.

The nationwide effort is spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration and local police departments. Here are some of the numbers nationally for April's event:

  • Total Law Enforcement Participation: 4,497
  • Total Collection Sites: 4,955
  • Total Weight Collected: 663,725 lbs. (332 Tons)
  • Total Weight All Time: 17,300,454 lbs. (8,650 Tons)

Residents and community members are encouraged to turn in expired or unused prescription drugs as a communal effort to keep them out of the wrong hands.
