Glenview Police Sergeant Remains on Paid Leave

Not charged with perjury like the other 4 officers in Sperling case, Theresa Urbanowski awaits an internal investigation.

Glenview police Sgt. Theresa Urbanowski was the only officer named in the investigation into police lying under oath in the case of drug suspect Joseph Sperling last year in Skokie Court.

She remains on paid leave, according to the Chicago Tribune, having been placed of administrative leave more than a year ago on April 9.

Glenview officials announced Monday their internal investigation would begin now that perjury charges have been handed down to Glenview Officer James Horn and three from Chicago who are accused of providing false testimony. The four had said under oath they found marijuana in Sperling’s vehicle before they arrested him when a video cleary shown Sperling was taken into custody before the marijuana was found.
