Glenview Principal, Teachers Pied For Charity

More than $8,000 was raised for hurricane relief during Glen Grove "Pie in the Face for the Human Race."

GLENVIEW, IL — Staff at Glen Grove school got creamed for a cause to celebrate efforts to raise money for hurricane relief as part of the "Pie in the Face for the Human Race" fundraising campaign, which raised more than $8,000.

During a school-wide assembly Friday, third through fifth grade students had a chance to pie their teachers. The fundraiser was so successful that even Principal Helena Vena got in on the action.

Money raised during the campaign is being donated to the Cantor Fitzgerald Hurricane Relief, which has offered to match 100 percent of donations up to $5 million, according to the Glenview Journal. Students were encouraged to raise money on their own, with one student managing to collect $600 on his own by selling kits to assemble haunted gingerbread houses.
