GLENVIEW, IL — Having been in the role on an interim basis for nearly a year, it's no surprise Tony DeRose has been promoted to fire chief of the Glenview Fire Department, effective July 1, according to an announcement from the Village of Glenview. DeRose had been serving in the position since the retirement of former chief Ralph Ensign in August of last year.

DeRose has more than 20 years of fire service experience. He came to Glenview in August 2019 as a deputy fire chief, and prior to that served as a firefighter, lieutenant, division chief and battalion chief for the Countryside Fire Department, based in the Vernon Hills area.

"Chief DeRose has done an outstanding job leading our Fire Department during these difficult times of public health crisis. We are confident Tony's sound leadership and extensive experience make him the ideal person to lead our high-quality team of fire and EMS professionals," Village Manager Matt Formica said in a press release.
