Glenview’s Art Scene Takes Center Stage with Back-to-Back Weekend Shows
In addition to organizing the fair, members are currently painting a large mural on the side of the Jimmy John's Sandwich shop

Art lovers, mark your calendars—Glenview is becoming a summer arts destination with two major events on consecutive weekends.
The 72nd Annual Glenview Art League Summer Fair kicked off Saturday, July 18, at its temporary new location in front of the Park Center at 2500 Chestnut Ave.
The fair continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nearly 100 artists have entered this year’s show, featuring painting, printmaking, mixed media, fiber art, and student artist exhibits, plus an event booth. Awards will be announced Sunday for Best in Show along with 1st-3rd place honors in the “Glenview’s Own” tent.
“Browse a diverse selection of original artwork, including paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, fiber arts, mixed media, sculpture, and more,” league officials said. Whether you’re an experienced collector, searching for a unique handmade gift, or looking for a fun summer outing, there’s something for everyone .The league has been pulling double duty this summer.

In addition to organizing the fair, members are currently painting a large mural on the side of the Jimmy John’s Sandwich shop on Glenview Road.
The mural, funded through a Cook County Arts grant, depicts a bridge on the North Branch of the Chicago River and features local history including a Navy pilot, the Kennicott family, the Glenview Farmer’s Market, and a child in the 4th of July parade.

The art continues next weekend, July 25-26, with “Art at the Glen” at The Glen Town Center, 2030 Tower Dr.
The fair runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days .This juried show features 150 original artists, a kid zone with art projects, live painting classes, face painting, and live music.
Thousands of paintings, sculptures, photographs, and jewelry pieces will be on display.Both events offer free admission to the public
