Glenview Schools Hiring New Staff At No Extra Cost: District
Glenview School District 34 says it can pay for new Spanish language and administrative positions with existing funds.

GLENVIEW, IL —The Glenview Board of Education recommended hiring three new staff members at a meeting Monday, but it said the cost of the new positions would be mostly paid for with existing funds.
District administrators want to add a full-time Spanish interpreter, a bilingual instructional coach and a student services coordinator, as well as to switch a current part-time administrative assistant position to full-time.
“District 34 is an incredibly diverse school community, and these two positions will offer needed support without causing a financial strain on the district,” Dr. Heather Hopkins, the district's chief of human resources said.

“The funds are already present and utilized. As an administration, we have taken a look at how to better focus those monies to meet the needs of students and families.”
The cost of hiring an interpreter is similar to what the district currently spends on an outside agency, while the coach position would be paid for out of the district’s Title III Grant, according to the board's analysis.

All three positions will be primarily paid for by reallocating of current district funds. The district says the new jobs are considered "cost-neutral," and would not require any additional funds to be spent.
The Glenview District 34 Board of Education will vote on the proposed positions at its March meeting.
