Glenview Student Named 2024 National Merit Scholarship Winner
Scholars were selected from students who advanced to the finalist level in the national competition.
GLENVIEW, IL — The first group of winners in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship program were announced Wednesday, and it includes a student from Glenview. Scholars are selected from students who advanced to the finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition, while also meeting criteria set by their scholarship sponsors.
Andrew S. Ordway, of Glenview, was named a scholarship winner by NMSC. The Glenbrook South High School student has a probable career field of physics. Ordway is the recipient of the National Merit Aon Scholarship.
According to NMSC, around 770 distinguished high school seniors have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 94 corporations, company foundations, and other business organizations. The finalists are children of their employees, who are residents of communities the company serves, or who plan to pursue college majors or careers the sponsor wishes to encourage.

Recipients can use their awards at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university of their choice.
Most of the awards are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study and provide annual stipends that range from $1,000 up to $10,000 per year. In addition, some provide a single payment between $2,500 and $5,000.
