Glenview Teen Charged With DUI After Crash
One 18-year-old was arrested, another issued a citation after Lincolnshire police investigating a crash smelled booze.

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL — After an SUV containing three Glenview teens was involved in a traffic crash in Lincolnshire last week, one man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and another issued a citation for illegal possession of alcohol, police said. Around 7:43 p.m. on Sept. 16, an officer was dispatched to a report of a crash involving a Toyota Highlander and a Honda Accord near Half Day Road and Millbrook drive. Both vehicles had been traveling westbound on Half Day Road when the driver of the Accord rear-ended the Highlander, according to Lincolnshire Police Cmdr. Kim Covelli.
An ambulance responded but there were only minor injuries and everyone refused medical attention.
As the responding Lincolnshire officer spoke with the three Glenview teens in the Toyota, the officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic drink, according to police reports.

Police determined he was above the 0.08 limit, even for those old enough to drink legally, according to Covelli. He was also cited for expired registration and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Glenview — or your community.
