'Handicap THIS!' - Featuring Glenview Native - Coming to Library
A two-man show between a Glenview man with cerebral palsy and his longtime friend offers a look at living with a disability.

GLENVIEW, IL - A Glenview native with cerebral palsy and his one-time aide and longtime friend will perform their two-man show, “Handicap THIS!” at the Glenview Public Library.
Mike Berkson was just 12 when he met Tim Wambach, of Des Plaines, who was hired to perform all the tasks Mike could not, such as taking notes in school. Tim worked with Mike until Mike was a freshman at Glenbrook South High School and two years later ran from Disney World to GBS to raise awareness of individuals living with disabilities.
Since 2010, the pair have been performing the show, which tells the entire story of their friendship and informs the public about the specific challenges of living with cerebral palsy.

“The village of Glenview has always been accommodating from an accessibility standpoint,” he said. “I’m proud to call Glenview my home when we travel and audiences ask me where I’m from. It’s rare that a relationship like ours occurs and I hope that our show inspires others to travel down a similar path.”
