Hitting the green for hospice
Midwest CareCenter supporters join The 13th annual Memorial Golf Tournament to raise funds for hospice care and palliative education
More than 50 golfers took their best swings on August 17 in support of The 13th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit Midwest CareCenter, held at the Glen View Club in Golf, Ill.
Tournament proceeds totaled nearly $85,000 to support the outstanding care provided by Midwest CareCenter, which has now joined with JourneyCare and Horizon Hospice & Palliative Care to form a new agency that will reach even more patients and families facing serious illness.
Funds raised also help provide critical training and education for future physicians through the Jeffery S. Vender, MD, Fund in Palliative Care Education.

A total of nearly 100 guests also joined the event for dinner, a silent auction and raffles, which raised nearly $10,000 of the proceeds. This year’s event honored Paula Armstrong of Wilmette, who died in 2014 and was a co-founder of the golf tournament, as well as a cherished friend and supporter of Midwest CareCenter.
Taking first place in the tournament was event sponsor team Baxter Credit Union, with members Jason Pero, Herb Behrens, Tyler Dowd and Ken Dryhout.
