Illinois Shockwave finishes in top ten at NSA "B" Northern World Series
#LikeAGlenviewGirl - Illinois Shockwave 14U Fastpitch finishes in top ten at NSA Nationals in Indiana
WESTFIELD, IN – Coming hard on the heels of a third-place finish at the McHenry County Heatwave tournament and a fourth-place finish at the Vernon Hills Stingers tournament, Illinois Shockwave 14U closed out its regular season with a finish in the top ten of 87 participating teams at this year’s NSA “B” Northern World Series held in Hamilton County, Indiana last week.
Shockwave faced a variety of teams from Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois over the course of the week, which started with two pool play wins on Tuesday and ended with a loss on Friday afternoon. The team’s record for the week was 6-2. Pitching duties were shared by Sophia Stark and Alana Lapitan, both who racked up three wins each. The strong showing was the result of complete team effort by Stark, Lapitan, Grace Mosele, Anna Rempe, Kaylee Liberty, Lauren Mosele, Lauren Olsen, Emerson Sapienza, Mia Swanson, Megan Chin, Cassie Rodgers, Grace Butler and Julia Bass. The players enjoyed the experience of going up against good teams from a larger geographical area and being able to compete.
Coaches Dave Stark, Rocky Sapienza and Kc Liberty were very pleased with their team’s performance, both at last week’s tournament and the entire inaugural season. Illinois Shockwave’s overall record for the 2014/15 season stands at 52-29 and the organization is expanding to add 12U and 16U teams in addition to its existing 14U team. Tryouts are scheduled for August 1, 8 and 12. Please visit www.illinois-shockwave.org for more information on times and locations, as well as coaching staff.
