Illinois Shockwave wins silver bracket championship at Trevian tournament

NORTHFIELD, IL – Glenview’s Illinois Shockwave girls fastpitch team took first-place honors in the 14u silver bracket at the 25th Annual Trevian Father’s Day Classic softball tournament held at Willow Park on June 18 - 21.

Having gotten off to a strong start on Friday afternoon winning against Deerfield Warriors, Shockwave lost both their Saturday games. The uncharacteristic 1-2 record in pool play placed the team in the silver bracket for elimination rounds. Heavy rains on Saturday night further complicated things by rendering some fields unplayable on Sunday and tournament organizers were forced to abbreviate the playing schedule. The team faced Sauganash Storm Black—to whom they had lost in pool play two days prior—in the semis and won a hard-fought contest 6-3 to earn their place in the championship game. Shockwave took the championship game against Chicago Out Burst 12-2.
