Shooting Cancels 4th Of July Fireworks, Parade In Glenview

Following a mass shooting in Highland Park, all activities scheduled for Monday afternoon and night have been canceled.

UPDATE: Due to a mass shooting in Highland Park Monday, all 4th of July related activities in Glenview have been canceled.

The Village of Glenview said in a post on its website:

"The Glenview 4th of July Parade and Fireworks Show have been canceled following the shooting that took place at the Highland Park parade earlier today. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution as part of a coordinated safety response by the Village of Glenview, Glenview Police Department and Glenview Park District. There have been no incidents in Glenview and there is no known direct threat to the Village. Barricades will be placed at the entrances to parking lots for the fireworks show to prevent crowds from gathering at Gallery Park. The Glenview Park District has closed all its facilities and canceled all programs through Tuesday, July 5. Stay tuned to the Village, Glenview Police and Glenview Park District social channels for additional updates. Citizens are encouraged to take safety precautions. The police are reminding residents to stay vigilant and call 9-1-1 if you see anything suspicious. Our thoughts are with our neighbors in Highland Park."
