Midwest CareCenter's annual gala raises $275,000 for hospice and palliative care

Midwest CareCenter raised more than $275,000 for hospice and palliative care services at its May 16 annual gala, A Knight to Remember, at Michigan Shores Club in Wilmette.

The Renaissance-themed evening drew more than 250 guests and included dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions. Funds raised will be used to provide our patients and their families with services and therapies that are not covered by insurance or Medicare, including our bereavement camp for children, music-thanatology, integrative therapies like massage and Reiki, pet therapy and charity care.

The organization also honored E. Dennis Murphy, MD, FACP, medical advisor to our organization since its founding and a long-serving Board member who was honored with the Excellence in Care Award.

As of June, Midwest CareCenter also merged with JourneyCare in Barrington and Chicago-based Horizon Hospice & Palliative Care to form the premier end-of-life care provider in the region. The organization, which cares for approximately 2,500 patients each day in 10 counties, will announce its new name this fall.
