Brighid O’Shaughnessy challenged the traditional idea of leadership in her presentation and discussion with Regina Dominican students. O’Shaughnessy, a 1991 graduate of Regina Dominican, described moments of leadership as a component of daily life. She broke down her personal story into ten lessons of leadership:

Brighid O’Shaughnessy is the founder and director of Erasing the Distance. Erasing the Distance is based in Chicago and uses the power of theatrical performance to disarm stigma, spark dialogue, educate and promote healing surrounding issues of mental health. Brighid is a nationally sought speaker and instructor and was granted DePaul University’s prestigious David O. Justice Award for her use of theatre to educate communities about mental illness in nontraditional and creative ways. Also, she was chosen by Extra Mile America as one of 200 heroic leaders in the United States making a difference in their communities.
