Local Gymnast To Compete in Rio Olympics
Laura Zeng represents the North Shore Rythmic Gymnastic team and the Glenview Park District.

A North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastic athlete will compete in gymnastics during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Laura Zeng, who competes for NSRG in partnership with the Glenview Park District, finished in eighth place in a recent tournament in which the top 15 finishers would qualify for the Rio games.
Zeng’s qualification took place at the 2015 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. Her group, the U.S. Rhythmic Group, finished in 13th place in the all-around and were the highest ranked group from the United States.

“The Glenview Park District is so thrilled for Laura who earned an individual spot at next year’s Olympic Games in Rio,” said Ann Marie Shipstad, the cultural arts supervisor at the Glenview Park District. “It is so great to see such talented athletes and coaches rewarded for their hard work and determination.”
Zeng is a five-time Pan Am Games gold medalist and World clubs finalist.
