Maine Township Agency Day set for May 3

The event will include a workshop, networking opportunities and information about services in the Maine Township community.

Maine Township's 37th annual Agency Day has been scheduled for Friday, May 3, at Manzo's Banquets, 1571 S. Elmhurst Road, Des Plaines. The day begins with breakfast and registration at 8:30 a.m. and concludes with luncheon and networking beginning at noon. The day will feature Trauma Informed Care: A Conversation, a workshop presented by Paul Skiba, a clinical psychologist with 34 years of experience in the mental health care field, beginning at 9 a.m.

Currently a full-time therapist in community mental health who maintains a small private practice, Skiba will address the new definition of trauma and how trauma shows up at school, at the workplace, in professional and personal relationships, and in self-care. The workshop will also include ideas that organizations can use to more effectively and appropriately provide services for clients with a history of trauma.

Open to employees from social service agencies, non-profits, schools, churches, hospitals, and units of government, the event will include multiple opportunities to network and exchange information about services in the Maine Township community. Those who attend are encouraged to bring brochures, flyers, and business cards to display on information tables.
