Maple School Students Celebrate President's Award

GLENVIEW, IL — Fifty-four Maple School eighth-grade students were recently recognized for receiving the President's Award for Educational Excellence. This marks the 35th anniversary for this extraordinary program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

This award is designed to recognize students who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or higher through sixth, seventh, and the first two trimesters of eighth grade at Maple School. Additionally, a student must also score at, or above, the 85th national percentile in mathematics and reading on the most recent achievement (PSAT 8/9) test battery.

A virtual celebration of the award was held on April 29 in an Educational Excellence Assembly.

"Congratulations to our outstanding students!," Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley said. "We are exceedingly proud of you all! Thank you to everyone who helped put this recognition ceremony together, and don't miss Tim St. John's words of wisdom!"
