Marriage and Asperger's: Building Commitment
Dr. Clatch writes about commitment in relationships between individuals with Asperger's Syndrome and their neurotypical partners.

Something that is integral to all romantic relationships - including marriage - with individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome is building commitment. Once partners have forged a foundation of mutual understanding, they need to recognize that the challenges of AS will have a direct impact on the relationship. This acknowledgement should serve as the springboard to creating commitment between partners. It is as if both partners need to confirm that they are aware of the difficulties caused by AS and must affirm their willingness to work through these issues both independently and together. By creating this basis for commitment, couples should be able to cope with problems that arise in the relationship that are directly related to AS.
