Morton Grove Woman Struck By Train Dies

The 61-year-old was walking westbound when she was struck.

The woman who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Morton Grove Monday night has been identified as Adriana Zic Groeling, 61, of Morton Grove.

The conductor of the northbound Chicago-to-Milwaukee Hiawatha service train that held 117 passengers at the time told authorities he saw Zic Groeling approach the tracks after the gates went down at Lehigh and Lincoln avenues, according to the Morton Grove Champion. She was seen looking in both directions and walking westbound around the gates when she was struck. The conductor put on the emergency brakes, but was unable to stop the train in time.

A Metra spokesperson said there is no indication this was anything other than an accident.
