New Pastor Joins St. Philip Lutheran Church In Glenview
Pastor Stephen Bouman, a published author, served for over 20 years as a parish pastor in New York City.

GLENVIEW, IL — St. Philip Lutheran Church wants the Northfield Township community to know they have a new pastor. The Glenview church recently welcomed Pastor Stephen Bouman, who had previously served for more than 20 years as a parish pastor in New York City.
St. Phillip, located at 1609 Pfingsten Road, is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
According to the church's council, Bouman "has a rich history of leadership" in the Lutheran church, previously served as its executive director for the Domestic Mission Unit of the ELCA, and as Bishop of the ELCA Metropolitan New York Synod.

In addition, Bouman is a published author, with his two most recent books, "Baptized for the Moment," and he is co-author of, "They are Us: Lutherans and Immigration." The council said his book, "The Mission Table: Renewing Congregation and Community," is currently being used by many congregations throughout the church as they do mission planning.
Bouman was a co-founder and president of Lutheran Disaster Response, New York, a response to the 9/11 attacks in New York City and has served on the Board of Directors for Wagner and Wartburg Colleges, Lutheran Services in America and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services. He also serves as a consultant to Global Refuge, formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services.
