Nominations Open For 52nd Annual Glenview Civic Awards
Nominations for the Glenview Citizen of the Year, Youth of the Year and the Public Service and Public Safety awards are due before March 13.

GLENVIEW, IL — Nominations for the 53rd edition of the Glenview Civic Awards are now being accepted, organizers announced. Four people who have made a difference by serving the community over the past year will be presented with one of the following awards: Citizen of the Year, Youth of the Year, the Public Service Award and Public Safety Award, according to the Glenview Civic Award Committee.
The Public Safety Award goes to police, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers or public works staff who work for the village and have performed an outstanding act or service in the line of duty that justifies special recognition.
The Public Service Award is given to someone who performed an act of bravery that prevented serious injury or death, given direct support to public authorities, distinguished themselves by helping police stop a crime or apprehend a criminal or who have promptly reported a fire, preventing serious damage or harm. Firefighters and police are ineligible for this award.

The Glenview Youth of the Year must reside in the Glenview area, attend high school and be involved in their community, religious groups, family or school. Nominations must include the student's school, grade level and a detailed resume of their qualifications and services they have performed.
The Glenview Citizen of the Year can either life or work in the Glenview area. Village staff are eligible, but only for actions not related to their jobs. Nominees must have performed outstanding community service that benefits many people in the village.

To be considered for one of the awards, the name of the nominee and a detailed letter outlining their qualifications must be submitted by 3 p.m. March 13, organizers said. They can be mailed to Glenview Civic Awards, c/o Glenview Police Department, 2500 E. Lake Ave., Glenview, 60026, attention Sandie Elliott, or by email to selliott@glenview.il.us.
The 2019 Glenview Civic Awards presentation is scheduled for April 17, 2020, at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Chicago North Shore Suites, 1400 Milwaukee Ave. A reception from 6 to 7 p.m. will be followed by a dinner of chicken, salmon or vegetarian. Tickets are $50 per person and registration is required.
The event is sponsored by the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 166, Glenview Women's Club, Kiwanis Club of Glenview/ Northbrook, Lions, Navy League-Glenview Council, Optimist Club of Glenview, Rotary-Luncheon and Rotary-Sunrise.
According to organizers, one member of each organization sits on a selection committee that reviews nominations and picks winners.
