North American Corporation Will Remain in Glenview

Village offers deal that will keep one of largest employers in town.

GLENVIEW, IL - One of Glenview’s largest employers and property tax payers will remain in the village after a deal was reached with trustees. The North American Corporation, a manufacturer of restroom supplies, food service disposables and other products, was lured by the state of Wisconsin to relocate with a larger plant near the Illinois border in Pleasant Prairie, according to a Daily North Shore report.

But an incentive-laden deal between the company and the village means they will actually be expanding in Glenview.

North American Corporation already operates a 250,000 square-foot building in Glenview and will add an additional 100,000 square-foot unit as part of the deal.

The deal “incentivizes them to stay in the village for many years to come,” according to Director of Planning Jeff Brady.

The urgency to keep the speed up the process of the deal came from Wisconsin putting together an aggressive offer on their end.

“The reason this has become necessary is the State of Wisconsin has gotten very aggressive with this particular issue,” said Village Manager Todd Hileman. “They have a plant in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and this deal is not nearly as rich as what had been offered, but by putting this in place we have been able to retain them. It was a direct result of Wisconsin trying to lure them to their state.”

The company employs more than 300 people and is a provider of a significant amount of property and sales tax revenue to Glenview.
