Restaurateurs Bring New Concept To North Shore: Glenview Chamber

NORTH SHORE, IL — The owners of La Taquiza love the location of one of their four North Shore restaurants so much that they decided to build another eatery right next door. Zippy's Burgers & More recently opened at 2659 Shermer Road, Northbrook.

Editor's Note: Zippy's Burgers & More is located in Glenview, but has a Northbrook mailing address.

Last month, the Glenview Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting at the new restaurant, owned by longtime restaurateur Marlene Benitez and family.

"They are a family-owned and operated burger and hot dog place where everything is made from scratch and service is given with a smile," Lauren Svendsen, membership and events manager for the chamber, shares with Patch.

In addition to the Northbrook location, Benitez currently operates three other La Taquiza restaurants in Glenview, Winnetka and Highland Park.

According to the Chamber, some of the highlights on Zippy's menu include their famous Chorizo Jalapeno Burger, The No Manches Burger and the Fave Onion Ring Bacon Cheeseburger.

The menu at Zippy's also features sandwiches, birria ramen, gyros and desserts like tres leches cake and homemade flan.
