Park Center Sprint Triathlon Returns After 3-Year-Hiatus In Glenview

The 21st edition of the race, hosted by the Glenview Park District, is planned for July 30.

GLENVIEW, IL — It's been three years, but the organizers of the Park Center Sprint Triathlon are excited to bring the race back this summer. Hosted by the Glenview Park District, the 21st edition of the triathlon is scheduled for July 30.

The competition bets going early with a 6:30 a.m. start time. Competitors will swim 300 yards at the Splash Landings pool, followed by a 10-mile bike ride through The Glen and concluding with a 5K run around Gallery Park.

For those not interested in running, entrants in the Aquabike division will only compete in the swim and bike portions of the event.

"We are so excited to welcome athletes of all ages and fitness levels back to the traditional sprint triathlon and aqua bike race," Kathleen McInnis, Park Center Health and Fitness Manager, said in a news release. "I look forward to this event each year because we are creating an experience that brings a community together that promotes health and wellness, fun, a feeling of accomplishment and positive camaraderie…with the best volunteers."

According to organizers, the triathlon is suitable for all fitness levels, ages 12 and up. All participants will receive a dry-wicking T-shirt, a finishing medal, chip time, post-race refreshments and a chance to win great raffle prizes.

The entry fee is $80 per person; participants can save $5 by registering online in advance. For additional information and to register, visit glenviewparks.org. Triathletes can also register the day of the race for $85.
