Passenger Grabs Rideshare Driver By Face During Trip: Blotter

  • Matthew West, 37, of the 4100 block of Pulaski Road, Chicago, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs while license revoked, possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs, driving on a suspended driver's license, and was arrested at 11:09 a.m. March 25, in the 3800 block of Willow Road. West was taken to a bond hearing on March 26.
  • Rafael Viveros, 40, of the 2400 block of S. Troy Avenue, Chicago, is accused of felony driving under the influence of alcohol, no valid driver's license, no insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol, after a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Willow Road. He was taken to a bond hearing on March 26.
  • Zalina Orozobaeva, 33, of the 300 block of Brush Road, Schaumburg, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, use of unsafe tires, and was arrested at 10:08 p.m. March 24, in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of May 5.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

Mircea Costecu, 41, of the 1100 block of N. Schoenbeck Road, Prospect Heights, is accused of deceptive practices, and was arrested at 5:36 p.m. March 22, following an investigation of an incident on March 9 in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road. He was held for a bond hearing.

INCIDENTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 1100 block of Castilian Court reported that at 1:36 p.m. March 21, three people entered their residence and stole personal items.
  • A Glenview resident reported that between March 19 and March 27, someone entered their unlocked apartment and stole their blender, George Foreman grill, and several paper plates.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • A business owner in the 3700 block of West Lake Avenue called police to report that between March 22 and March 23, someone damaged a large glass window at the property.
  • A Des Plaines resident reported that between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. March 27, someone slashed the tire on their vehicle, while it was parked at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road.

RETAIL THEFT

  • The manager of a business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 8:58 p.m. March 23, to report two men possibly concealed items on their persons after they activated the alarm while exiting the store.
  • A business owner in the 1300 Patriot Boulevard reported at 5:37 p.m. March 25, someone entered the store, filled a shopping cart with items, and walked past the point of purchase without paying for the items.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A resident in the 900 block of Linden Lane reported at 12:50 a.m. March 24, they were awoken by a loud crashing noise in their garage. Someone had crashed their vehicle into the side of their garage wall. The person stole the victim’s key fob, $300 in cash, and a Chase Sapphire credit card from inside the vehicle.

UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD

A Wilmette resident called police at 3:13 p.m. March 24, to report earlier in the day while they were shopping at a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard, someone stole their wallet, containing numerous credit cards and $70 in cash. The person used two of her credit cards at unknown locations.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

  • A Winnetka resident reported that between March 22 and March 24, while their car was parked in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle.
  • A Highland Park resident called police at 8:41 p.m. March 25, to report someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard.
  • An employee of a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 6:05 p.m. March 27, they saw numerous people looking under their vehicle and believed they were attempting to steal the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot. The employee yelled at the offenders, and they left in a Chrysler 300.

THEFT

  • A business owner in the 2100 block of Johns Court reported at 12:58 p.m. March 25, two license plates were stolen off two trailers parked in the parking lot.
  • A Glenview resident called police to report that between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. March 26, someone stole an Amazon package, containing Soundcore earbuds, from the front entrance of their residence.
  • An employee of a business in the 3000 block of Central Road reported that between March 25 and March 27, someone stole mail from the business’ mailbox.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

A Glenview resident called police at 1:04 p.m. March 25, to report receiving a harassing telephone call from a former acquaintance.

FORGERY

A Glenview resident reported at 9:51 p.m. March 26, someone forged two fraudulent checks on their USAA checking account.

BATTERY

A rideshare driver called police at midnight March 27, to report their passenger grabbed their face with both hands while they were driving at Willow Road and Sanders Road.

BURGLARY

Police responded to a business in the 300 block of Waukegan Road at 6:34 a.m. March 27, for a business alarm. Upon arrival, they spoke to the manager and learned six people arrived in a dark-colored 4-door sedan and forced entry into the business by breaking two windows. Nothing appeared to be missing.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Glenview resident reported that on March 21, someone used their identifying information to open an online PNC bank account.
  • A Glenview resident called police at 12:02 p.m. March 28, to report they received numerous pieces of correspondence indicating someone had been using their identity to open numerous fraudulent accounts.

ASSAULT

An employee of a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 6:05 p.m. March 27, he saw a gray Chrysler 300, bearing IL registration AW80621, park next to a vehicle in the parking lot. The employee said two men exited the vehicle and jacked up the victim’s vehicle. A witness confronted the offenders in the parking lot, and one offender raised his shirt and displayed an alleged handgun that was in his waistband. The offenders left the area in an unknown direction.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE
A Northfield resident was cited at 11:02 p.m. March 28, for no valid driver's license, suspended registration for no insurance, following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of East Lake
