Boy, 15, Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train While Riding Bike In Glenview

The resident of Northbrook was riding his bicycle when the Friday evening incident occurred.

GLENVIEW, IL — A 15-year-old Northbrook boy was killed Friday night after being struck by an Amtrak train while riding his bike at the North Glenview Train Station, 2301 Lehigh Avenue. The incident happened at around 6:51 p.m. and the deceased was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the deceased has been identified as Ryan McDonagh.

The Glenview Police Department is assisting the Amtrak Police Department in their investigation of this incident, according to a news release.

Daily Herald reported that none of the none of the 178 passengers or crew members on the train were injured. Amtrak said in a statement the train was headed to Chicago from Milwaukee when the incident occurred and was delayed about two hours.
