Glenbrook South Added To List Of Glenview Schools Closed Friday

GLENVIEW, IL — Add Glenrook South High School to the growing list of Chicagoland area schools closed Friday due to a continuing snowstorm. With upwards of 8 inches predicted in some areas, "travel could be very difficult to impossible,"according to the National Weather Service.

In a social media post Friday morning, GBS said, "Due to worsening road conditions this morning, District 225 is canceling school and postponing finals for Jan. 12, 2024. More info regarding today's finals will be provided at a later time. As a reminder all athletics/activities are canceled unless notified by coaches/sponsors."

In Glenview, snow is expected to start after 2 a.m. Friday. NWS predicts wind could gust as high as 25 mph with an 80 percent chance of precipitation. Nighttime snow totals could be around an inch.

For Friday, snow is predicted throughout the morning, mixed with rain. NWS said the snow could be heavy and wind gusts could be as high as 35 mph. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is possible, with another 2 to 4 inches predicted Friday night.
