'Person Of Interest' Detained Following Church Fire: Des Plaines PD

DES PLAINES, IL — A "person of interest" is in custody following an early Tuesday morning fire at The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Des Plaines. Arson investigators are continuing to investigate the incident.

Police were called at 2:31 a.m. to the Catholic church at 1170 N. River Road for a report of a fire. Officers attempted to extinguish the fire, but were unsuccessful, according to a news release. The Des Plaines Fire Department was able to put out the fire upon arrival. Arson detectives were called to the scene.

No charge have been filed as of press time for this story.
