Hanley Declares Victory In IL Senate District 9 Primary
Patrick Hanley declared victory over Rachel Ruttenberg in the IL Senate District 9 Democratic Primary race.

GLENVIEW, IL — Patrick Hanley declared victory Tuesday night over Rachel Ruttenberg in Illinois' 9th State Senate District.
Illinois' 9th Senate District encompasses part of northern Cook County and includes all or portions of Chicago, Evanston, Glencoe, Glenview, Golf, Kenilworth, Morton Grove, Niles, Northbrook, Northfield, Skokie, Wilmette and Winnetka.
The Cook County Clerk's Office showed Hanley coming out on top with 100 percent of precincts reporting as of 10:30 p.m. Hanley secured 20,262 votes with Ruttenberg close behind at 18,975 votes.

In a statement to the Daily Northwestern, he expressed gratitude to voters.
Hanley and Republican candidate Tom Lally will face off on Nov. 3 in the General election. The winner of the General election will replace State Sen. Laura Fine, who did not seek reelection because she ran for Congress in Illinois' 9th District.

Fine has served in Illinois Senate in District 9 since 2018. Prior to serving in the state Senate, Fine served as the State Representative in the 17th District.
