Rail Lines Seek More Traffic Through Glenview

Amtrak and Union Pacific with plans that could affect village.

More train stops could be coming through Glenview in the coming years.

The Journal & Topics reports two rail lines - Amtrak and the Union Pacific - would like to expand passenger and freight service through the village.

Amtrak is seeking to increase runs on its Hiawatha line from Chicago to Milwaukee from seven to 10 a day. UP would like to add an additional set of tracks on the north side of Glenview adjacent to the Shermer Road rail bridge near Willow Road to hold a 10,000-foot train between Techny Road in Northbrook and West Lake in Glenview.
