Car Hits Light Posts on Christmas Morning in Northfield
The driver, a Chicago man, was charged with a DUI and damage to village property.
NORTHFIELD, IL - A drunk driver veered off the road and struck two village light posts with his Range Rover early on Christmas morning near Willow Road and Central Avenue.
Joseph R. Guli, 59, of Chicago was hospitalized with injuries and later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and damage to village property after police found his car stopped on the roadway at 2:16 a.m., according to police.
Guli’s vehicle - a black Land Rover Range Rover- was found in the left turn lane without the left front wheel and wheel assembly. An investigation showed the car had departed the roadway on Central near West Frontage road and destroyed two light posts.

After he was taken to the hospital, Guli turned himself in later that day.
