75-Year Old Northbrook Man Survives Train Hit

The elderly man was hospitalized after being struck by a fast-moving Metra train in Glencoe Wednesday.

GLENCOE, IL - An elderly Northbrook man narrowly escaped death Wednesday night, suffering only non life-threatening injuries after being hit by a Metra train in Glencoe.

The 75-year-old went around lowered gates at the station and was hit by the Union Pacific North Line train number 350 shortly after 5:30 p.m., according to the Glencoe News. The train was going about 60 mph at the time and was not scheduled to stop.

The man was taken to Evanston NorthShore Hospital, which would not release information on his condition citing wishes of his family.
