Shopping Plaza Shooting: Man Faces Charges From Glenview Incident

GLENVIEW, IL — An arrest has been made in connection with a Thursday afternoon shooting at the Plaza del Prado shopping center in Glenview. Jaylen Sanford, 19, of the 400 block of Perrie Drive, Elk Grove Village, is accused of reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, and was arrested at 12:17 p.m. Friday, according to a news release.

Police responded to the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road at around 12:02 p.m. Thursday after a 19-year-old man was shot while inside a vehicle in the parking lot of Plaza del Prado. He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Thursday they believe it was an isolated incident and there was no known threat to the public.

Sanford was being held Friday for a bond hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.
