Small Airplane Lands On The Glen Club Golf Course

There were no injuries as a small plane made an emergency landing at a golf course Sunday in Glenview.

GLENVIEW, IL — A vehicle not usually found on the links appeared Sunday on a golf course in Glenview. A small airplane landed near the 13th hole at The Glen Club, according to police and village staff. There were no injuries reported.

Around 2:30 p.m., a single-engine Cessna ran out of fuel as it approached Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling. The student pilot and flight instructor were left shaken up but otherwise unharmed.

The plane was not undamaged as it came to a stop on the 13th fairway, according to police. Village staff said the Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the incident.

Golfers on the course at the time told WGN they were "obviously surprised" to see a plane land right in front of them. The Glen Club's general manager told the station players skipped playing the 13th hole for the afternoon.
