Social Media Campaign Encourages Staff, Parents At Glenview Schools To Share Their Stories

GLENVIEW, IL - From Glenview School District 34: At the start of the school year, all staff members and parents in Glenview District 34 were asked to share what it is like to be part of their school community by posting to Facebook and Twitter using #WeAreD34.

The district continues to be amazed by the stories it sees posted by members of the Glenview District 34 community. Those interested in reading the start to this story are encouraged to visit https://storify.com/District34/weared34.

“The photos, tweets and Facebook posts give such great insight and perspective into the learning that takes place in our classrooms every day,” said Director of Communications and Public Relations Jenn Nimke. “We recognize that social media can be a harsh world of conversation. However, it also has incredible power to do good. It gives everyone a voice; and this year, together, we all are writing the chapter that is the 2017-2018 school year.”

Nimke said since the campaign first launched, they have seen hundreds of contributions and new followers on the district’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Nimke encourages parents and staff to continue to join the conversation by sharing their celebrations on Facebook or Twitter using #WeAreD34. Individuals who are not on social media but still interested in participating can do so by e-mailing their photos to jnimke@glenview34.org. The district will then post the photos to the District 34 Facebook and Twitter pages on their behalf.
