Streetscape at The Glen Approved; Construction Planned for 2016
Village planners hope improvements last for at least two decades.

Visitors of The Glen Town Center will have to deal with a temporary hassle next spring and summer with hopes of an improved experience for decades to come.
The final site plan for a $3 million streetscape of The Glen was approved by village trustees recently, according to the Glenview Announcements. Construction on new sidewalks, landscaping and new signage is set to begin in March and last through September.
Annual freezing and thawing cycles have damaged the current sidewalks, which were put in just 12 years ago. Village trustees hope what’s constructed in 2016 will last for at least 20-30 years.

New, bigger signs are also planned for The Glen’s entrances at Patriot Boulevard, Lake Avenue and Willow Road.
Those “20-foot LED entrance signs at the intersections of Patriot Boulevard and Willow Road, and Patriot and Lake Avenue will keep a subtle historic nod to the site’s former life as the Glenview Naval Air Station,” according to the Announcements.
