Therapy For Impulse Control

Dr. Clatch writes about how therapy can help children with ADHD better control their impulsive behavior.

Many children with ADHD benefit from therapy which focuses on skill building to raise the self-awareness of the child and to understand their actions. Professional support for your child can be essential for helping your child learn what works to acquire control over impulsive behavior. Even though therapy can be a challenging process for many children, the benefits of the process can be essential not only to building positive behavior but also for developing the skills needed to effectively control behavior.

Putting the pause in impulsivity for ADHD is not a simple task. Parents and children confronted with this challenge may need to try different tactics in order to make the process a success. While difficult, the end result can be a stronger relationship with your child and vital skills that will be foundational to your child’s health and well-being.
