Father Killed In Crash Identified; Wife, 4 Children Hospitalized
The two-vehicle collision happened at Route 83 and Lexington Drive Tuesday night in Round Lake Beach.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the 41-year-old father killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Round Lake Beach. Epifanio Camarena of Round Lake died from multiple blunt force injuries as a result of the crash, authorities said Wednesday.
Camrena's wife and their four children were taken to the hospital following the collision on Route 83 and Lexington Drive, which occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
His wife, a 44-year-old woman, is in critical condition at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Their 5-year-old child is also in critical condition at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.

Two other children, a 10-year-old and 12-year-old, are in stable condition at Lurie Children's Hospital, and a 14-year-old child has been released from the hospital, according to authorities.
The other driver involved in the crash, a 40-year-old man from Wisconsin, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition, according to a news release from the Round Lake Beach Police Department. That driver has submitted for drug and alcohol testing, and authorities are awaiting results to determine if that played a factor in causing the collision.

Route 83 was closed overnight Tuesday, and reopened Wednesday morning following an investigation of the crash scene, police said.
The Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County is assisting the Round Lake Beach Police Department with their investigation.
