1 Dead After SUV Crashes Into Tree In Yard Near Antioch

A 74-year-old Antioch man was killed in the crash Wednesday morning.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 72-year-old Antioch man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near Antioch.

The collision happened at about 10:30 a.m. when a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe went off the roadway and ran into a tree in the front yard of a home in the 40600 block of Illinois Route 83 in Antioch Township, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. First responders found the man unresponsive inside the vehicle and attempted life-saving measures.

The man was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are not sure if a medical condition, drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
