1 Dead In Gurnee Road-Rage Incident

A 22-year-old Waukegan man was killed in the early Saturday shooting in Gurnee.

GURNEE, IL — A 22-year-old Waukegan man is dead after being shot during a road rage incident in Gurnee over the weekend, police said.

Police say the shooting occurred in the area of Waveland Avenue and Grandview Avenue in Gurnee at about 12:05 a.m. on Saturday. The 22-year-old Waukegan man, identified as Daniel Lobo, was riding as a passenger in a car that authorities say was driving recklessly just before the shooting.

The driver of that vehicle turned onto Waveland Avenue and began to slow down, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department. A vehicle pulled up next to the car and an occupant in the car began shooting.

One of the rounds struck Lobo. The driver in his vehicle took him to the emergency room at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday with the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

This incident is being actively investigated by Gurnee Police Detectives and Lake County Major Crime Task Force Investigators.
