1 Hurt After Trucks Start On Fire At Grayslake Waste Management Facility
Fire crews responded to the renewable natural gas facility in the 1900 block of South Illinois Route 83 at about 5:20 a.m. on Monday.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — Firefighters responded Monday morning to a fire at the Waste Management facility in Grayslake, where two roll-off trucks were fully involved in flames, according to the Grayslake Fire Protection District. Officials confirmed that an employee was evaluated at the scene for an injury but was not transported to the hospital.
Fire crews responded to the renewable natural gas facility in the 1900 block of South Illinois Route 83 at about 5:20 a.m. on Monday, according to a news release from the fire protection district. When they arrived at the scene, they found the two trucks fully engulfed in flames.
Officials said firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze and protect nearby buildings amid concerns of the "potential presence of flammable and hazardous materials." The blaze started within close proximity to more trucks and a fueling station, according to the news release.
