129 Citations Made Over Labor Day Campaign: Lake County Sheriff's
The initiative was part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday the results of its recent Labor Day traffic safety campaign. A total of 129 citations were issued during the campaign, including 32 during the overnight hours, and the following:
- 3 arrests for driving while impaired
- 26 seatbelt citations
- 28 speeding citations
Nationally, in 2018, a total of 10,511 people were killed in drunk driving crashes, making up nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities that year, according to a press release. More than 10,000 people have died as a result of impaired driving each of the last 4 years in the United States.
"I cannot say it enough, please don't drive while intoxicated," Sheriff John Idleburg said in the release. "It is simply not worth killing an innocent person or losing your own life. Driving intoxicated puts everyone on the roadway at risk!”
