17-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Grayslake Shooting: Police

The teen, who has not been identified, faces second degree murder charges for fatally shooting Isidro Juarez, police said.

GRAYSLAKE, IL β€” A 17-year-old faces second degree murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old Waukegan man in September in Grayslake.

The teen has not been identified by police.

The juvenile has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and four counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to a news release from the Grayslake Police Department.

Police say 23-year-old Isidro Juarez of Waukegan was riding as a passenger in a vehicle in the area of Washington Street and Lancer Lane in Grayslake at about 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2022, when a person in another vehicle began shooting at the vehicle Juarez was in.

Juarez died before he arrived at the hospital, according to police. Results from an autopsy show he died from a single gunshot wound, according to a statement from the Lake County Coroner's Office.

At the time of the shooting, authorities told Patch investigators were looking into the possibility that the person who shot Juarez knew him. No additional details were immediately available regarding Juarez's relationship with the shooter.
