2 Lake Co. Businesses Cited For Selling Alcohol To Minors

Clerks working at Family Pantry in unincorporated Mundelein and Mobil Gas in unincorporated Grayslake were cited.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β€” Two businesses in Lake County recently failed alcohol compliance checks and received tickets from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The compliance checks are designed to ensure businesses selling alcohol are not selling to anyone under the age of 21, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. Of the 55 establishments checked, clerks at the following two businesses are accused of selling alcohol to someone under the age of 21:

  • Family Pantry, 21190 Commercial Drive, Unincorporated Mundelein
    • Clerk: Udit N. Mehta, 22
  • Mobil Gas, 33226 North Sears Boulevard, Unincorporated Grayslake
    • Clerk: Rolando Gonzalez, 35

The clerks in violation were ticketed for selling liquor to a minor, and will be required to appear in Waukegan court. Notice of the violations were sent the Lake County Liquor Commission.

β€œWhile two illegal sales of alcohol is too many, this is a big improvement since our last compliance check," Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg said. "We are pleased that overall, those selling alcohol in Lake County are taking their responsibility seriously.”
